Galaxy A36 receives One UI 9 (Android 17) update in the US

Samsung has expanded the stable One UI 9.0 update, based on Android 17, to the carrier-locked Galaxy A36 in the United States. The update carries firmware version A366USQUADZIF and includes the September 2026 security patch; the factory-unlocked A36 does not appear to have the update live yet.

This rollout follows Samsung’s release of the stable One UI 9.0 update for several other phones, including the Galaxy A27, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A37, Galaxy A56, the Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

If you own a carrier-locked Galaxy A36 in the US, check for the update by opening the Settings app, navigating to Software update, and tapping the Check for updates button. If the update is available it will begin downloading; when the phone is ready, tap Restart Now.

The update delivers Android 17 and its underlying changes and improvements. It makes the Quick Panel and the lock screen clock widget more customizable and revamps the Samsung Health app’s UI for a fresher, more modern appearance. Samsung has also introduced a new version of Bixby powered by large language models, which improves natural language understanding and maintains conversation context, and the release adds new Bixby widgets.
