iPhone Duo: Apple’s foldable arrives with new UI and high price

Apple has announced the long‑rumored foldable iPhone Duo, a device that pairs a 5.4‑inch external display with a 7.6‑inch internal screen, adds a nano‑texture finish to the inner panel and shows barely any visible crease.

iPhone Duo design and hardware

The Duo replaces Face ID with Touch ID integrated into the power button and carries two cameras: a main lens and a wide‑angle lens. The outer display measures 5.4 inches while the inner display opens to 7.6 inches, and Apple highlights a nearly invisible crease and a nano‑texture treatment on the inner screen.

Software changes for a foldable

Apple has overhauled controls and apps in iOS 27 for the foldable form factor, including repositioning the dock to the side of the phone. The device also features a noticeable opening animation when unfolded.

Reception, market position and price

A review described the iPhone Duo as “one of Apple’s messiest first-generation products in a long time,” particularly criticizing the software, while also suggesting it will likely be fun for early adopters. The Duo represents a major new bet from Apple but arrives later than foldable models from competitors such as Samsung and Google. Pricing starts at $1,999 for the base 256GB model and increases for higher configurations.
