HomeView: 10 Features to Know Before November 13 Launch

Apple will release the HomeView on November 13; it is available for pre-order now, priced at $299 and offered as a tabletop model with a speaker base or a wall-mounted version.

HomeView launch, price and models

HomeView will ship on November 13 and can be pre-ordered today. The device is priced at $299 and comes in two configurations: a tabletop model with a speaker base and a wall-mounted version.

Siri access and Apple Intelligence

HomeView supports hands-free Siri in English with “Siri” or “Hey Siri” and also offers activation via a downward swipe from the top of the display or Type to Siri. It includes some Apple Intelligence features: household members can use Siri AI for general knowledge questions without an Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad, but an Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad is required for requests that involve personal context.

Smart home hub, sensors and automations

HomeView contains temperature and humidity sensors that can be used in Home app scenes and automations. It also functions as a home hub for controlling HomeKit and Matter devices when you are away from home.

Guest access and AirPlay

Personal data remains private while guests can still control smart home accessories, check the weather, set timers, and play music. Visitors can AirPlay audio to HomeView using peer-to-peer discovery.

Recipe walkthroughs and timers

HomeView simplifies Safari recipes by extracting ingredients and steps and providing a “Start Cooking” button for step-by-step instructions while you cook. The device also supports multiple voice-activated timers.

Handoff and Live Activities

You can hand off songs, podcasts, calls, videos, and recipes from an iPhone to HomeView. The device supports Live Activities, so timers or incoming Intercom messages remain visible while using other apps.

Adaptive interface and customizable faces

HomeView adapts its interface based on proximity: it shows less information in a larger view when someone is across the room and reveals more details as the person approaches. It offers multiple customizable faces similar to watch faces; Apple says some faces can “wake with you in the morning, wind down with you at night.” The Snoopy face includes different animations based on time of day, weather, and holidays.

Third-party apps and CarPlay-like capabilities

There is no App Store for HomeView, but it has CarPlay-like software capabilities and can display CarPlay audio and video apps from a linked iPhone. Currently there are no CarPlay video apps except Apple TV, so developers will need to add support for other video apps if they want them to appear on HomeView.
