People living with rare diseases in Dorset are being offered free access to Mirror, an AI note-taking app, for two years through a partnership between Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease, and UK digital health company Aide Health. The tool is designed to help improve care by capturing and organising key information from medical appointments.
The app aims to help users remember, act on and share information from consultations, reducing anxiety and the need to repeat details to different clinicians. It is intended to give patients a practical way to revisit important information and prepare for conversations about their care.
Deborah Richards, vice president and general manager UK and Ireland at Alexion, said: “People managing a rare disease can face a succession of appointments involving different specialists, unfamiliar terminology and complex decisions. Our partnership with Aide Health will give them and their families a practical way to capture important information, revisit it in their own time and feel better prepared for conversations about their care.”
More than 3.5 million people in the UK live with a rare condition. Many face long diagnostic journeys and repeated appointments with multiple specialists.
Mirror AI tool: how it helps patients
Ian Wharton, founder and CEO of Aide Health, said: “Mirror launched one year ago, and we have been overwhelmed by the response from people navigating healthcare of all different kinds.”
