Is OpenAI about to unveil GPT-5?

OpenAI, based in San Francisco, has hinted at a significant announcement through a cryptic post on X, suggesting the imminent release of GPT-5. The post, which reads “LIVE5TREAM THURSDAY 10 AM PT,” has sparked speculation due to the unusual placement of the number “5”, hinting at the next iteration of their generative AI model, GPT-5. Although CEO Sam Altman did not confirm these rumors, he mentioned that the live-streaming session would be longer than usual, lasting around an hour, indicating that there is much to reveal. The anticipated launch of GPT-5 would mark OpenAI’s continued efforts to advance its large language models, following the release of GPT-4 in March 2023. Meanwhile, open-source models from Chinese start-ups like DeepSeek and MoonshotAI, as well as major firms like Alibaba, have gained traction due to their cost-effectiveness and innovative features.
