How is Swedish startup Flox using AI to promote human-wildlife coexistence?

Stockholm-based startup Flox is pioneering a new approach to human-wildlife coexistence through its innovative use of artificial intelligence. The company recently secured nearly €1 million in an oversubscribed Seed funding round, which was led by Unconventional Ventures and included participation from Norrsken Accelerate and other previous investors. Flox, founded in 2020, aims to revolutionize interactions between humans and wildlife by using AI to decode animal behavior and communicate with them in real time. This technology is being applied across various environments such as airports, railways, and farmlands, replacing traditional methods like pyrotechnics and fences with data-driven solutions. Their latest product, Edge, is an autonomous device that uses adaptive bioacoustics to interact with wildlife, providing round-the-clock protection for ecosystems and infrastructure. With full bookings for its 2025 production batches, Flox is collaborating with partners like WWF and the Swedish Transport Administration. The company plans to use the recent funding to expand its operations, particularly in the United States, and continue its research and development efforts. Flox’s innovative approach positions it for rapid growth and aims to address the global challenge of human-wildlife conflict through sustainable technology.
