Will Samsung’s 2026 strategy secure AI and chip leadership?

Samsung’s leadership is convening this week to devise a 2026 strategy aimed at seizing new opportunities amid challenging market conditions. Recently appointed co-CEOs TM Roh and Young-hyun Jun are leading these strategy sessions following a major management reshuffle in November. A separate briefing is planned for Chairman Jay Y. Lee, who recently engaged in discussions with Tesla’s Elon Musk and AMD’s Lisa Su in the United States to boost semiconductor partnerships.

The strategy focuses on enhancing Samsung’s role in the AI supply chain, particularly as a key provider of memory and foundry services for AI hardware, including ASIC chips for companies like Amazon and Meta. Another priority is the operation of Samsung’s $37 billion chipmaking facility in Taylor, Texas, set to begin mass production of advanced 2nm chips for clients such as Tesla. The company anticipates securing additional multi-billion-dollar contracts with leading chip companies.

Additionally, Samsung is expected to finalize the launch plans for the Galaxy S26 series, with speculation suggesting a potential delay from the usual January launch to late February.
