Samsung is preparing to make a significant advancement in the high-end mobile chip sector with its upcoming Exynos 2600, set to be the company’s inaugural 2nm system-on-chip. This development underscores Samsung’s dedication to innovation, as the Exynos 2600 will become the first 2nm chipset available for smartphones. The company has been focusing on improving the yield rate of its 2nm wafers, paving the way for the imminent start of mass production.
The latest high-end application processor is ready for production, with mass production slated to begin this month. The Exynos 2600 is anticipated to feature in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, marking the return of Exynos hardware to Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S lineup.
Samsung Foundry’s Exynos 2600 will be the first flagship chip to use the advanced 2nm gate-all-around process, offering significant performance enhancements. This technology promises better power efficiency and heat management than previous models. A special thermal management feature, the Heat Path Block, will be included to effectively dissipate heat and maintain stability.
Performance benchmarks have shown promising results for the Exynos 2600, with scores indicating competitive positioning against Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. Notably, Samsung also plans to use the Qualcomm chip in the Galaxy S26 lineup.
The reintroduction of the Exynos chip in the flagship Galaxy S line has significant implications for Samsung’s business divisions. For the Mobile eXperience division, using more in-house chips could lead to substantial cost savings by reducing reliance on external suppliers like Qualcomm.
