OTTAWA — On Sept. 22, 2026, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Minister Evan Solomon said he spoke with his G7 counterparts about establishing an international “technology stability board” to evaluate AI models for testing before they are released.

Solomon said the board would assess AI models prior to public release and that the safety of AI is a key government priority. He also spoke with other G20 countries about the issue on Friday.
Warnings about the risks AI poses to humans have prompted global alarm in recent weeks. Last week, Prime Minister Mark Carney said a global “technology stability” body along the lines of the Financial Stability Board would make sense.
