A prominent Chinese leaker says the all-glass iPhone planned for 2027 remains in active development, countering recent claims that the commemorative redesign has been canceled.
Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station identifies the device as coming in two sizes across Pro and Pro Max variants, citing internal codenames V73 and V74 that were previously referenced by Mark Gurman. The leaker reports, based on supply chain information, that both new displays have increased in physical size while keeping the same aspect ratio.
Digital Chat Station explains the apparent borderless look by describing a design that pairs a flat 2D OLED panel with a curved glass cover. According to the leaker, the glass’s optical refraction and curvature create the visual effect of a display without borders as the glass curves into the device edges.
That description aligns with Mark Gurman’s earlier report that glass would be used on both the front and back of the phones and would curve into the sides, leaving only a narrow metal band around the middle of the chassis.
All-glass iPhone display and size details
The leaker also echoed a prior claim that Apple is testing a slightly larger 6.96-inch display for the Pro Max variant. Digital Chat Station says the OLED panel itself would be marginally bigger, but much of the added area would curve further into the edges so the overall chassis would remain essentially the same size as the current iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The development update follows a report from Jefferies analyst Edison Lee that the 20th‑anniversary all-glass iPhone had been canceled. Mark Gurman rebutted that claim, adding that Apple had considered an even more ambitious version that used additional glass but ultimately scrapped that more aspirational iteration early in the process—an option Lee may have been referring to.
Digital Chat Station’s post adds further weight to the view that the radically redesigned 20th‑anniversary iPhone is still in the works and, according to the available reporting, is expected to arrive in the fall of 2027.
