Apple is hiring a Studio Producer for its Fitness+ service with a background in live production, a listing that could signal plans to add live content to the platform. The job was posted last month for an in-person role at Apple’s Santa Monica studio and emphasizes experience in live or live-to-tape multi‑camera production.
Apple Fitness+ role highlights live-production expertise
The listing calls for a candidate with a “strong foundation in live or live-to-tape multi-camera production” and a “genuine curiosity about where live content is headed next.” Apple describes the hire as a “creative collaborator” who is “excited to experiment with new formats” and willing to “push the boundaries of what live fitness content can be.”
Despite that wording, the job’s responsibilities read largely like Fitness+ production management rather than a concrete description of live programming. Fitness+ has launched in 2020 as a library of trainer‑led workout and meditation videos that are shot in advance and offered on demand, with Apple Watch integration for workout metrics. Apple has not offered Peloton‑style live classes, real‑time leaderboards, or scheduled sessions through the service, so the listing’s repeated emphasis on live production skills appears to mark new territory even though it does not specify what live content would look like.
Service review and organizational changes
The job posting arrives as Apple continues to consider Fitness+’s future. Reporter Mark Gurman said in November that Fitness+ was “under review” amid a broader reorganization and described it as one of Apple’s “weakest digital offerings” because of high churn and low revenue. As part of that restructuring, Sumbul Desai took over the service and the health division now reports directly to services chief Eddy Cue. Gurman added in February that the review was ongoing and suggested Apple might eventually merge Fitness+ with the Health app, perhaps as a combined subscription; he did not mention plans for live content.
