Apple today unveiled a redesigned Apple TV 4K and an updated Siri Remote that together introduce 14 new features, led by an A19 chip, Siri AI support and improved wireless standards. The two products can be pre-ordered starting today and will launch Friday, November 13.
What’s new in the Apple TV 4K
The new Apple TV 4K is powered by an A19 chip, which Apple says delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance and up to twice as fast graphics performance versus the previous A15-based model. The device is very likely to include 8GB of RAM, up from 4GB in the prior model, although that RAM figure still needs confirmation.
Siri AI is supported on the new Apple TV 4K; questions that require a user’s personal context will need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. Apple also says Siri AI will be available on the second-generation and third-generation Apple TV 4K models (released in 2021 and 2022) on tvOS 27.2 and later.
The set-top box adds three built-in far-field microphones for hands-free Siri AI voice control while retaining the option to use the Siri Remote. Surround-sound setups can now use four HomePods — either four HomePod mini 2 speakers or matching front and rear pairs of HomePod mini 2 and full-sized HomePod 2 speakers — whereas previous models remain limited to two HomePods.
Wireless and media support have been updated: the new Apple TV 4K supports Wi‑Fi 7 (up from Wi‑Fi 6) and Bluetooth 6 (up from Bluetooth 5). It also adds AV1 and VP9 video codec support. Apple has consolidated the device into a single 128GB configuration that includes an Ethernet port; the previous model also offered a 64GB Wi‑Fi‑only option. A white status light is now centered on the front edge, and the new model is about 1% heavier than the previous one.
Updated Siri Remote
The redesigned Siri Remote introduces Find My and Precision Finding support to help locate a misplaced remote. Precision Finding requires an iPhone 17 or newer (excluding the iPhone 17e), iPhone Air, or iPhone Duo. The remote also includes a built-in speaker that can play a sound to aid location, and it is roughly 6% heavier than the prior remote design.
Both the new Apple TV 4K and the updated Siri Remote are available for pre-order today and will launch Friday, November 13. In the U.S., the new Apple TV 4K is priced at $299 and includes the new Siri Remote. The updated remote is also sold separately for $59 and is compatible with all Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD models released since 2015.
