The Indian government has issued a critical security alert for Microsoft Edge users, highlighting vulnerabilities that could expose systems to serious hacking threats. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) warned that the browser has multiple security flaws, rated with high severity, that could allow attackers to bypass device security and access stored data. These vulnerabilities, found in the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, involve heap buffer overflow and use-after-free issues in sync and storage functions. Attackers could potentially exploit these by luring users to malicious websites, leading to remote code execution and other attacks. Users with Edge versions prior to 141.0.3537.71 are advised to update their browsers immediately to mitigate risks. Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and recommends updating to the latest version to ensure security.
