Asymptote Labs raises $5.5M to build AI agents runtime

Asymptote Labs has raised $5.5 million in an oversubscribed seed round to expand a runtime infrastructure platform for enterprise AI agents. The round was led by Tower Research Ventures, the venture arm of Tower Research Capital, with participation from Lytical Ventures, 1984 Ventures and South Park Commons. Asymptote said it will use the financing to expand engineering, product development, hiring and go-to-market efforts.

Asymptote, founded by Justin D’Souza and Shukan Shah, is building infrastructure to give enterprises real-time visibility, intelligence and control over AI agents running on employee workstations, in cloud environments and across business workflows. The company is addressing the challenge of monitoring agents that can access sensitive data, modify code and take actions across critical enterprise systems, and argues that security and engineering teams will need a shared runtime data layer to understand agent behavior and manage associated risks.

Asymptote Labs launches Beacon telemetry

Beacon, the core of the platform, is an MIT-licensed open-source telemetry layer for AI agents. Beacon captures activity across Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and more than 20 additional agent harnesses, then normalizes that activity into a common runtime data model that extends the OpenTelemetry standard. The architecture provides organizations a unified view of agent activity while allowing them to retain ownership of their data. For developers, Beacon can carry knowledge and context across coding sessions so insights from previous work are not lost when individual sessions end.

Beacon launched in May 2026 and has seen growing developer adoption. GitHub stars increased more than 460% in September, and the project reached No. 3 among GitHub’s global trending repositories.

Enterprise platform: detection, response and governance

Asymptote’s enterprise product builds on Beacon with real-time detection, response and governance capabilities. The system can intercept live agent activity and apply policy-driven guardrails at both the prompt and tool levels to steer agents away from unsafe behavior or block risky actions before they occur. The company says its detection library is designed to identify issues including data leakage, insider threats, AI supply chain risks and inefficient agent workflows. Security teams at regulated enterprises are among the platform’s early adopters.

Founders, track record and investors

Before founding Asymptote, D’Souza and Shah were early engineers at social engineering defense company Doppel. D’Souza helped scale Doppel’s real-time machine learning detection platform from processing approximately 1 million domains per day to more than 1 billion, while Shah worked on SOC workflow automation and agentic threat-hunting infrastructure. The founders later joined the South Park Commons Founder Fellowship. Angel investors in Asymptote include Doppel co-founders Kevin Tian and Rahul Madduluri and Socket founder Feross Aboukhadijeh.

The company included several quoted statements from founders and investors. Justin D’Souza, Co-Founder and CEO of Asymptote Labs, said: “AI agents are becoming a new operating layer inside every company, but the infrastructure to understand and control them hasn’t caught up. We saw this problem firsthand when building agents at Doppel. As companies deploy thousands of agents across their infrastructure, their runtime data will become one of the most valuable assets they own. We built Beacon as open source because we believe every organization should own that data, and Asymptote enables them to act on it.” Lucas Nelson, Managing Partner at Lytical Ventures, said: “What gave us confidence in Justin and Shukan was how clearly they saw the infrastructure gap emerging around enterprise AI agents. Every company will run multiple agent harnesses across teams and environments, yet there is still no shared telemetry layer that gives organizations a complete view of that activity. Asymptote is building that system of record.” Jared Young, Director of Venture Capital at Tower Research Ventures, said: “We found the Asymptote team through Beacon, and it was immediately clear they understood the security risks of AI agents better than anyone we’d seen. Now our security team is putting Beacon through its paces on our own endpoints, because as agents take on real work, visibility and control over what they do can’t be an afterthought.” Ramy Adeeb, Founder at 1984 Ventures, added: “As early investors in Cline, we’ve seen this kind of developer pull before. Agent activity is exploding across harnesses, while the context and learnings from those sessions stay fragmented. Beacon’s recent inflection reinforced our belief that Asymptote can become foundational infrastructure for teams building self-improving agent workflows.”

While security is Asymptote’s initial focus, the company sees broader applications for its runtime telemetry layer across AI agent reliability, enterprise governance, FinOps, performance optimization and, eventually, self-improving agent systems.
