DentalCall: Medicall raises seed round to scale dental AI agent

Medicall has raised a seed round led by AI Angel Club for its dental AI phone assistant, DentalCall, the company announced in August. Participating investors include CNTTech, Tail Ventures and Antler Korea; the amount raised was not disclosed.

DentalCall handles calls and patient outreach

DentalCall is Medicall’s first product: a 24-hour AI phone agent that answers dental clinic calls, manages bookings, changes and cancellations, and fields patient queries. The system also runs outbound patient management, automating check-up recalls, post-treatment follow-up calls and return-visit reminders to help clinics scale their patient communication.

Platform vision and company plans

Medicall says it is building a broader healthcare platform that connects multiple task-specific AI agents across clinic operations — covering phone answering, booking, consultation, recalls, patient management and marketing — with the aim of having those agents collaborate within a single platform. Chief executive officer Moon In-wook said Medicall is “not a company that automates one specific task,” but is building “a new way of operating where AI agents that handle each area of patient management and clinic operations collaborate within a single platform.”

The company already has paying customers abroad, including a large Thai telecoms operator and major medical institutions in the Philippines. Medicall plans to use the funding to improve its product, expand sales and partner networks, and grow its team.

“DentalCall accurately identifies problems in real dental settings and solves them with AI technology,” said AI Angel Club chairman Choi Sung-ho, citing the team’s execution capability.

Investor interest in South Korea’s healthcare AI

The deal follows continued investor interest in South Korea’s healthcare AI sector. Non-invasive diagnostics platform Allmed raised a pre-Series A from Kookmin University Technology Holdings and Minerva Brook Ventures, while medical AI firm Mediqustar raised a pre-Series B from Zenexis to expand its tuberculosis diagnosis solution overseas.
