Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 9 (Android 17) update to the carrier-locked Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the United States. The update carries firmware version F731USQU8HZIJ and includes the October 2026 security patch.
To check for the update on a Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the US, open Settings, tap Software update and select Check for updates. If the update is available it will begin downloading automatically. After the download finishes, ensure the phone has at least a 30% battery charge, then tap Restart now to start the installation.
The factory-unlocked Galaxy Z Flip 5 has not started receiving the update yet, though its release is described as likely imminent.
One UI 9 is the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s final major software update. The phone launched in 2023 with Android 13 and Samsung had committed to providing four major Android OS updates for the device.
What’s in One UI 9 for Galaxy Z Flip 5?
One UI 9 brings the core improvements introduced with Android 17 and adds several Samsung-specific changes.
