Galaxy Z Flip8: Compact Fold, Large Unfolded Display

The Galaxy Z Flip8 switches quickly between brief checks on its external FlexWindow and a full-size main display for watching, editing or creating content, then folds back into a smaller, pocket-friendly shape.

At 180 grams and 13.1mm thick when folded (6.1mm when open), the Flip8 is Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Galaxy Z Flip yet. Its shorter folded profile is easier to carry in a pocket or bag, while the FlexWindow keeps information, widgets and supported apps within reach. Compared with earlier Galaxy Z Flip generations, its lower weight and thinner body extend that portable design.

Galaxy Z Flip8 design and display

Opening the Flip8 reveals a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, providing a large canvas for videos, social feeds and content creation despite the phone’s compact folded footprint. You can view a short clip or glance at widgets on the FlexWindow, then unfold the phone for longer videos, movies or extended social browsing and posting.

Key specs include a weight of 180g; thickness of 13.1mm folded and 6.1mm unfolded; a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen; and an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz.

Flex Mode, hands-free use and Dual Recording

Flex Mode lets you partially fold the Flip8 and set it on a stable surface; the hinge holds the display at an angle for hands-free viewing or video calls and can be used for taking photos or recording without a separate prop. Dual Recording captures what is in front of you and your own reaction simultaneously, showing both views on the main display during recording so you can monitor each perspective.

After capture, the unfolded display gives more room to review and edit photos. Photo Assist in the Gallery lets you move, resize or remove objects and fill in parts of an image. Photo Assist requires a network connection and Samsung account login. A visible watermark is overlaid on the saved image to indicate it was generated by Galaxy AI. Accuracy of output is not guaranteed.

These features illustrate the Flip8’s intent: provide quick, on-the-go access on the FlexWindow, a full-size screen for longer viewing and creative tasks, and a compact folded form when you put the phone away.
