iPhone Duo: Apple Stores Will Add Buyers’ Names to Startup Screen

Apple Stores in the United States will add buyers’ names to the iPhone Duo’s startup “Hello” screen, allowing the device to display the purchaser’s name when it powers on for the first time, Mark Gurman reported on October 9, 2026. The personalization will be available only for the iPhone Duo and will support English and Spanish.

Employees in Apple retail locations will be able to customize the Duo so it shows the buyer’s name at the initial greeting screen when the device is turned on for the first time.

The report notes the feature applies to U.S. stores and to the Duo model only. Presumably, the name option will be available for devices ordered for in-store pickup as well as for devices purchased in person.

The iPhone Duo will be available for pre-order starting on October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, with an official launch on October 23. Pricing for the device starts at $1,999.
