The next Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra looks set to be an iteration focused on hardware and software refinement rather than a redesign. With the official announcement a week away, leaks and reports have highlighted five key upgrades to the device’s inner display that could improve sharpness, brightness and tactile feel.
Resolution and increased sharpness
The Fold 8 Ultra’s inner foldable display is expected to retain an ~8-inch diagonal and the same refresh rate as its predecessor, but with a noticeable resolution boost: from 2,184 x 1,968 pixels to 2,504 x 2,256 pixels. That change would raise pixel density from roughly 368 ppi to about 422 ppi — nearly 15% more pixels — a difference that should be most noticeable when reading text, browsing the web and viewing documents.
Higher brightness for HDR and outdoor use
Reports point to a higher peak brightness for the inner screen, up to 3,000 nits versus 2,600 nits on the previous model. That increase would benefit HDR content rendering and improve legibility in direct sunlight. It remains to be confirmed whether Samsung will enable additional formats or workflows—such as support for Eclipsa Video alongside HDR10+.
Anti-reflective treatment for better readability
Alongside the brightness increase, the display is said to receive an anti-reflective coating to cut down on glare and reflections. That treatment is not expected to match the anti-reflective performance found on some flagship devices, but it should still noticeably improve outdoor readability.
