Has Recursive AI Startup Secured $650M for Self-Improving Tech?

The AI startup Recursive has recently come out of stealth mode, successfully raising $650 million in funding and achieving a valuation of $4.65 billion. This significant funding round was spearheaded by GV and Greycroft, with additional investments from AMD Ventures and Nvidia. Recursive’s mission is to create recursive self-improvement technology, which it considers the quickest path to reaching superintelligence. Initially, the company will concentrate on developing AI that can enhance other AI capabilities, with plans to later expand its focus to various scientific domains. The startup is led by co-founders Richard Socher and Tim Rocktäschel, who bring experience from prominent organizations such as OpenAI, Meta, and Uber AI.
