When Samsung first introduced Now Brief with the Galaxy S25 series and One UI 8.0, the feature seemed promising but ultimately fell short of expectations, offering little more than basic weather updates, calendar appointments, and off-target Spotify suggestions. However, with the release of One UI 8.5, Now Brief has undergone significant improvements, becoming a genuinely useful tool.
Now Brief now offers a more personalized experience, integrating seamlessly with various apps to provide timely information. For instance, it can display boarding passes from Samsung Wallet, remind users of travel plans, and even show sports tickets received via WhatsApp. These cross-app integrations have made Now Brief much more relevant and practical.
The feature has also enhanced its recommendations, offering Spotify playlists that align with users’ musical tastes and showing new YouTube content from subscribed channels. Additionally, it provides updates on Samsung home appliances’ energy consumption, relevant news articles, and even photo and video memories.
The wellness aspect of Now Brief has also been refined, presenting daily activity metrics, workout statistics, and screen time summaries, all in one place. While birthday reminders and the ability to generate greeting cards may seem minor, they add to the feature’s overall usefulness.
Despite these improvements, Now Brief still has room for growth. The text-to-speech feature remains robotic, and the lack of live sports scores or game reminders is a missed opportunity. Nonetheless, Samsung has successfully transformed Now Brief from a largely ignored feature into a daily tool for users, showcasing its potential for further development.
