The Galaxy XR headset, notable for being the first Android XR-based device, initially received positive feedback upon its release last year. Recently, however, users encountered significant frame drops and stuttering issues. In response, Samsung has rolled out a software update to tackle these problems.
Following the April 2026 update, users reported severe performance issues, including frame drops, UI stuttering, and tracking difficulties. These issues were attributed to a memory leak, causing the device’s memory usage to spike after a few minutes, rendering the headset almost unusable. Restarting the device offered only a temporary solution. Samsung and Google promptly addressed the situation with a new update.
The latest software update, identified by firmware version I610UEU2AZD8, has been installed by several users who have noted improved performance. However, a new concern has emerged, as some users are experiencing screen tearing when interacting with virtual desktops using hands or controllers.
