Samsung will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, but a week ahead of the event detailed spec sheets for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra have leaked. Both models promise improved displays, stronger performance, larger batteries and faster wired charging.
Two formats, two ambitions
The leaks describe two distinct design philosophies. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 moves to a wider aspect, with a large 7.6-inch inner display at a 4:3 ratio and a 5.5-inch cover screen. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is positioned as Samsung’s 2026 foldable flagship, keeping a taller, narrower format with an 8.0-inch inner screen and a 6.5-inch external display.
Displays and dimensions
Both devices reportedly use Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with 120 Hz refresh rates:
– Galaxy Z Fold 8: 7.6″ inner display, 2,448 x 1,848 px (4:3); 5.5″ outer display, 1,248 x 1,972 px. Dimensions: 161.4 x 123.9 x 4.5 mm; weight 201 g. IP48 rating (reported).
– Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: 8.0″ inner display, 2,504 x 2,256 px; 6.5″ outer display, 2,520 x 1,080 px. Thickness claimed at 4.1 mm when unfolded; weight 218 g. IP48 rating (reported).
Photo and performance
Both models are said to ship with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and multiple memory/storage configurations:
– Galaxy Z Fold 8: Base spec 12 GB RAM / 256 GB storage, with 512 GB and 1 TB options; the 1 TB model reportedly upgrades to 16 GB RAM. Rear dual camera: 50 MP main (f/1.8) + 50 MP ultra-wide (f/1.9). Two 10 MP front-facing cameras (one per screen).
– Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: Configurations of 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB and 16/1 TB, using LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Rear triple camera: 200 MP main (f/1.7) with OIS, 50 MP ultra-wide (f/1.9) and a 10 MP 3x telephoto with OIS. Two 10 MP front cameras (one per screen).
Battery, charging and connectivity
Battery and charging figures in the leak:
– Galaxy Z Fold 8: 4,800 mAh battery, 45 W wired charging.
– Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: 5,000 mAh battery, 45 W wired charging; wireless charging supported, but the leak doesn’t specify speed (earlier rumors suggested 20 W wireless for both models).
Connectivity for both reportedly includes 5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, GPS and USB‑C.
Colors and pricing in Europe
Color options reportedly:
– Galaxy Z Fold 8: Graphite, Cream, Lavender and Pistachio.
– Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: Cream, Graphite, Green Shadow and Violet Shadow.
Leaked European starting prices: €1,999 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and €2,199 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The leaks also indicate Samsung may drop a previous pre-order perk that offered a free storage upgrade: customers would now need to pay 50% of the price difference to move from 256 GB to 512 GB.
These leaked specs, appearing one week before the official announcement, underline Samsung’s priorities for this generation: bigger, higher-quality displays, stronger cameras and improved battery capacity. Official specifications and any adjustments will be confirmed at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22.
