Have Russian Hackers Compromised Ukraine’s Military Messaging App?

Russian hackers have infiltrated Sonata, a crucial messaging app used by Ukraine’s military, disrupting frontline communications and strategic operations. Sonata, developed by Dolya Communication Systems, was intended for secure military communication. Despite its design, the app was compromised in less than a month by Russian cyber specialists from PalachPro and Eye of Sauron. In late October, commanders issued individual QR codes for app activation, each linked to a unique user account, with strict instructions for personal use only. Dolya Communication Systems, part of the American-Ukrainian Business Council and a partner of Motorola Solutions, works closely with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Security Service, and National Guard.
