Amazon Prime Video will stream HDR10+ ADVANCED content on compatible Samsung TVs, the companies said, with select high-end Samsung models launched this year able to play HDR10+ ADVANCED titles. The partners said HDR10+ ADVANCED content will be available globally for select titles starting in August 2026.
HDR10+ ADVANCED: what it is
HDR10+ ADVANCED is Samsung’s open, royalty-free alternative to Dolby Vision 2 and was announced last year. It is an evolution of HDR10+, which Panasonic and Samsung co-developed in 2017. The format is designed for modern high-brightness, high-performance TVs, offering higher brightness, a broader range of colors and intelligent motion smoothing. It also aims to preserve creators’ intent across different types of content and displays and uses AI to retain detail in shadows and highlights.
Availability and supported TVs
Select high-end Samsung TVs launched this year support HDR10+ ADVANCED and will be able to stream such content from Amazon Prime Video. The two companies said the HDR10+ ADVANCED catalogue will roll out globally for select titles from August 2026, but they have not yet disclosed which movies or TV series will be offered in the new HDR format. Prime Video was also the first video streaming service to adopt the HDR10+ standard nearly 10 years ago.
