How can Samsung TV remotes be improved?

Samsung’s TV remotes have evolved significantly, with the SolarCell Remote standing out as one of the most advanced options available. Compact and comfortable, it eliminates the need for disposable batteries through its rechargeable design, which can be powered by ambient light, indoor lighting, or a USB Type-C port. Despite these advancements, there are opportunities to enhance their functionality further.

Firstly, adding backlit buttons would greatly improve usability in dimly lit environments, addressing the common issue of low visibility. Even if only essential buttons like volume and channel controls are illuminated, it would enhance user experience without significantly affecting battery life, thanks to the remote’s efficient charging capabilities.

Secondly, a built-in speaker could assist in locating a misplaced remote. A “Find My Remote” feature could be integrated with Samsung TVs, allowing users to activate a beeper through a simple voice command. Additionally, incorporating Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology could enable users to locate their remotes using a Galaxy phone or watch, even when out of sight.

Lastly, introducing a pointer mode could streamline navigation, making it faster and more intuitive. Similar to LG’s offering, a built-in gyroscope would allow users to control an on-screen cursor by moving the remote, enhancing the browsing experience, particularly for web navigation. For those who prefer traditional navigation, the option to disable this feature could be provided.

Samsung’s remotes are already leading in innovation, yet these enhancements could further cement their position as a top choice in the market.
