Uganda recently gained international attention at the AI Innovation Movement and Evolution (GAIME) Conference, held at Speke Resort Munyonyo. A notable achievement came from the International University of East Africa (IUEA), whose students were celebrated for their pioneering work in Artificial Intelligence. Their standout project, the Intelligent Virtual STEM Lab, merges Virtual Reality and AI to offer an immersive science learning experience. This innovative system utilizes VR headsets, coordinated via a teacher dashboard, to simulate real-world physics and electronics experiments. The AI component provides real-time feedback on student performance, enhancing learning by analyzing variables like release height and reaction timing. By offering a cost-effective and accessible alternative to traditional labs, IUEA’s project outshone over 100 competitors from universities and tech participants worldwide.
