Even when your iPhone’s battery is completely drained, iOS retains a small amount of power to support specific functions. Although the display won’t turn on for regular use, the device enters a low-power state similar to an AirTag. This is enabled by the Ultra Wideband chip present in iPhone 11 and newer models, which offers precise location tracking aided by Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. BLE allows nearby Apple devices to detect your iPhone’s general location, while the Ultra Wideband chip provides more accurate positioning. To ensure your iPhone can be located, it should be linked to the Find My app. In your iPhone settings, tap your name, then Find My, sign in if necessary, and activate Find My iPhone. This connects your device to Apple’s Find My network, allowing you to check its visibility under the Devices tab in the app.
