How Does macOS 27 Enhance iPhone Mirroring?

Apple is set to revolutionize iPhone Mirroring with the upcoming macOS 27 Golden Gate, introducing significant updates beyond just a new app icon. Currently in developer beta, with a public beta on the horizon and a full release anticipated in the fall, macOS 27 brings three key improvements.

First, window resizing capabilities have expanded. Previously, in macOS Tahoe, iPhone Mirroring was restricted to the iPhone’s native aspect ratio, offering limited resizing options. Now, macOS 27 supports multiple aspect ratios, allowing users to choose between a modified iPhone interface or an app’s iPad layout, though this is initially limited to iOS 27-compatible apps. This update has fueled rumors of a potential foldable iPhone launch.

Second, macOS 27 introduces the ability to access the iPhone’s Control Center directly from a Mac. This is achieved using the Command-4 keyboard shortcut or through the View menu in the menu bar, a feature absent in previous versions.

Lastly, the update adds support for DRM-protected video playback. In macOS Tahoe, attempting to watch DRM-protected content resulted in a black screen, but macOS 27 allows users to view such content seamlessly through the mirrored iPhone window.
