Apple is preparing the iOS 27.2 update for iPhone, which is currently in beta and is expected to introduce three notable changes for FaceTime, Apple Podcasts and the Apple TV app. The update follows iOS 27.0.1, which launched on September 28; Apple has not announced a public release date for iOS 27.2.
iOS 27.2 brings FaceTime Dual Capture to group calls
Dual Capture, introduced with iOS 27 on compatible iPhone models to show front and rear camera views simultaneously during a FaceTime call, is currently limited to one-on-one conversations. With iOS 27.2, Dual Capture is expected to work in Group FaceTime calls as well, allowing users to show reactions and surroundings at the same time while speaking with multiple people.
Apple Podcasts gets a redesigned queue
Apple Podcasts will replace the Home tab’s Up Next section with two separate areas: New Episodes and Continue Playing. New Episodes will display recent releases from shows a user follows, while Continue Playing will collect podcasts the user has already started. The redesign is intended to make it easier to distinguish new content from unfinished episodes and to track listening progress.
Apple TV app adds user profiles on iPhone
The Apple TV app on iPhone is expected to receive user profiles, a feature already available on tvOS. After updating, users will reportedly see a profile selection screen the first time they open the app. Profiles can personalise recommendations and viewing queues for different people, and a child’s profile will limit displayed Apple content to age-appropriate films and series to help families manage viewing on a shared device.
Apple has not confirmed when the stable iOS 27.2 release will arrive; the three features are reported as part of the beta, so their final availability may depend on the completed software build.
