iOS 27 beta 5, released to developers on Monday, contains hidden code referencing six unreleased iPhone models, found in system files tied to the iPhone’s battery drivers and Battery Intelligence features.
The internal identifiers discovered in the beta map to the following inferred model names:
V62 — iPhone Air 2
V63 — iPhone 18 Pro
V64 — iPhone 18 Pro Max
V67 — iPhone 18
V68 — iPhone Ultra
V69 — iPhone 18e
These references appeared alongside identifiers for existing iPhone models. The codes themselves (V62–V69) are the items actually present in the files; the model names are inferred. Those internal Apple identifiers have appeared in previous leaks or have been used by Mark Gurman in his reporting, which has allowed them to be matched to the expected iPhone models.
This is the first time the full iPhone 18 lineup has been mentioned in code found in an iOS 27 beta. Apple has not publicly confirmed the existence of any upcoming iPhone 18 models.
iPhone 18 launch timing and split-release strategy
According to the same reporting, Apple is expected to use a split-launch strategy for the iPhone 18 series: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a foldable iPhone Ultra would be unveiled in September, while the regular iPhone 18 would be launched in spring 2027 alongside the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2.
