The iPhone Duo includes a new Shortcuts automation trigger called “Opened or Closed” that runs actions when the device is opened or closed.

The trigger is listed under the Display automations category and was highlighted by YouTuber Stephen Robles. It was first spotted in September by code sleuth pdfu in the iPhone Duo simulator.
One suggested use is making the Duo switch to a different wallpaper when the device is opened and switch back when it is closed.
Federico Viticci said he plans to start “brainstorming hinge automations.”
