Just hours after the device’s release, hacker team Calif demonstrated a jailbreak on an iPhone Duo running iOS 27.1.
Calif’s demonstration showed the iPhone Duo’s icons and widgets bouncing around and included an anime character added to the device’s screen.
Last week the group shared videos showing an untethered jailbreak on an iPhone 18 Pro running iOS 27.0.1; the device was shown rebooting with root access available after the reboot. Calif posted a related tweet (CC @pwnlambda) on October 23, 2026.

The footage released by Calif focused on visible user-interface changes — moving icons and widgets and the addition of a custom anime image — as evidence of control over the device running iOS 27.1.
Availability and technical notes
Calif has not publicly released the jailbreak. Calif security researcher Stefan Esser told German site Heise that there will not be a jailbreak tool available for “end users,” though a proof of concept may be forthcoming. Esser said the iOS 27.0.1 jailbreak relied on bugs Calif has already disclosed or plans to disclose to Apple soon, and that “most” of the vulnerabilities are fixed in the upcoming iOS 27.2 update. He also said AI was used to help develop the jailbreak, but did not explain how.
