Apple’s iPhone Duo uses traditional Touch ID built into the side button rather than Face ID. By default you must authenticate with your finger and then swipe up to dismiss the Lock Screen, but a setting called “Rest Finger to Open” lets you skip that second step.
Enable Rest Finger to Open on iPhone Duo
Assuming you set up Touch ID when you first configured your iPhone Duo, turning on “Rest Finger to Open” allows you to open the device immediately by resting your finger on the side button while the screen is awake—no swipe required.
Where to find the setting
The toggle for the feature appears in two places in the Settings app:
– Settings ➝ Touch ID & Passcode.
– Settings ➝ Accessibility ➝ Side Button.
If you go through Settings ➝ Touch ID & Passcode you will need to enter your passcode before accessing the option. In both locations the description under the toggle reads: “Open iPhone with Touch ID by resting your finger on the side button,” confirming they control the same setting.
If you turn the switch off, the iPhone Duo will return to the default behavior and you will need to swipe up from the bottom of the Lock Screen after fingerprint authentication to fully open the device.
