Is 8bitDo’s new controller the perfect fit for portrait mode gaming on iPhones?

Just in time for CES 2026, 8BitDo is set to unveil a new gaming controller tailored for smartphone users who prefer portrait mode gaming. The FlipPad, compatible with both iOS and Android devices, connects via a USB-C port and attaches to the lower half of the screen using a hinge mechanism reminiscent of classic flip phones. Sporting a black D-Pad, red ABXY buttons, and a series of six white buttons possibly customizable, the FlipPad promises a unique gaming experience. Officially supported by Apple, the controller is expected to launch in the summer of 2026, although pricing details remain undisclosed. Additionally, as CES 2026 unfolds in Las Vegas, more information about this innovative device might emerge, alongside the anticipated reveal of a new “Pro” controller.
