Apple is reportedly developing a new wearable accessory, described as a “pendant with cameras,” which could be released as early as next year. This pendant is said to be similar in size to an AirTag and will function as an accessory for the iPhone rather than a standalone device. It will feature an “always-on” camera and a microphone for Siri voice commands, but it will not include a display or laser projector. The device will have its own chip, but it will rely heavily on a paired iPhone for processing power. Apple is considering whether to add a speaker to the pendant, which can be attached to clothing with a clip or worn as a necklace.
Additionally, Apple is working on smart glasses, expected to be unveiled in late 2026 or early 2027, with a release the following year. These glasses will have built-in cameras for capturing photos and videos, as well as speakers and microphones for music, calls, and Siri notifications. The glasses will integrate tightly with the iPhone and feature a premium build quality, with Apple designing its own plastic frames and exploring various styles and color options. Unlike some competitors, Apple’s first smart glasses are not expected to include an in-lens augmented reality display.
