Apple has announced that AppleCare One will launch in Australia, France, Germany and the UK starting Tuesday, August 4. First introduced last year in the United States, AppleCare One lets households cover up to three devices under a single monthly subscription.
What AppleCare One covers
AppleCare One includes all the benefits of AppleCare+, with additional services designed for multi-device households. The plan covers repairs for accidental damage (unlimited incidents subject to a per-incident deductible), 24/7 priority technical support, and theft and loss protection for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
A potentially more economical option
Apple positions AppleCare One as a potentially cheaper alternative to subscribing to multiple separate AppleCare+ plans. For example, Apple says UK households could save up to £11.48 per month compared with purchasing three separate AppleCare+ Theft and Loss policies. Households can add devices beyond the three included for an additional monthly fee per device; Apple provides full pricing details on its support pages.
Enrollment and eligibility
Depending on the country, subscriptions can be purchased at Apple.com or in Apple Stores. Existing AppleCare+ customers can also enroll directly from the Settings app on their iPhone, iPad or Mac. Apple says devices up to four years old can be added to the plan provided they are in good condition; a diagnostic check may be required to confirm eligibility.
What this means for users
By consolidating management and billing, AppleCare One is aimed at households with multiple Apple products. The plan offers the same repair and support coverage as AppleCare+ while potentially lowering the monthly cost for some users.
