In Hong Kong, an Honor-branded advertising truck has been spotted parked directly outside the Apple Canton Road store, capturing attention on Chinese social media. The truck promotes the new Honor 600 series smartphone with the slogan “It’s our HONOR” and the phrase “orange to orange,” a clever twist on the idiom “apples to apples,” suggesting a direct comparison. The advertisement showcases the Honor phone in a finish strikingly similar to the iPhone 17 Pro’s Cosmic Orange. This daring marketing move comes from Honor, a brand that separated from Huawei in 2020 to sidestep U.S. sanctions. While using Apple’s store as a backdrop to highlight a competing device with a similar design might seem audacious, it raises questions about originality. Despite the potential controversy, Apple is unlikely to react strongly, as doing so might inadvertently boost the campaign’s visibility. After all, imitation is often seen as a form of flattery.
