Samsung is set to enhance its smartphone display manufacturing capabilities in India, joining its major production hubs in South Korea and Vietnam. The company aims to boost the assembly of mobile phone display panels at its largest manufacturing factory in Noida. Samsung has applied for the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to produce components for mobile phone displays and is seeking tax breaks to support this expansion.
JB Park, Samsung’s Southwest Asia president and CEO, stated that the company is awaiting government approval for its expansion plans. Although the company will not relocate its manufacturing operations from Vietnam, it plans to develop new manufacturing capabilities in India to meet growing demand.
Despite facing stiff competition from Apple in the high-end smartphone market, Samsung remains confident, noting that over 90% of India’s market is dominated by Android devices. Samsung’s revenue from India surpassed $11 billion in 2025, with 42% stemming from exports. The company anticipates that in the next decade, half of its revenue in India will be generated from non-smartphone sales.
Samsung plans to cater to premium consumers by introducing bespoke AI series home appliances, Galaxy AI-equipped phones, and Vision AI series TVs and smart monitors. As the Indian economy approaches the $5 trillion mark, Samsung views the Indian market as comparable to key global markets like China, Europe, and the USA.
