Is Samsung shifting its device production strategy?

Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) division, responsible for mobile devices, TVs, and home appliances, is under significant cost pressure. In a recent global strategy meeting, Samsung Electronics considered a strategic shift that could lead to increased outsourcing of product manufacturing to third-party companies. The company has already restructured its operations, including exiting the TV and home appliance market in China, to cut inefficient segments. Facing stiff competition from Chinese brands, Samsung plans to focus on its premium Bespoke lineups. Additionally, the company might discontinue or outsource the production of low-margin home appliances, allowing third parties to manufacture entry-level products. This move indicates Samsung’s intention to transition from a traditional hardware manufacturer to a more agile entity, emphasizing software, services, and new business areas where pricing competition is less intense.
