Is Tesla expanding its smart driving technology in China?

Tesla is set to expand its driver assistance system in China and Europe by 2025, pending regulatory approval. The company recently showcased its electric vehicles, humanoid robot, driving assistance technology, and V4 Supercharger at the 2025 World AI Conference in Shanghai. Tesla aims to transition from the “pre-autonomous driving era” to the “post-autonomous driving era” in the coming years. In the United States, its system is recognized as Full Self-Driving (Supervised), and Tesla plans to make it available to some users by the end of the year. In China, Tesla has already introduced advanced intelligent driving features to its subscribers through a software update. The company has utilized publicly available videos of Chinese roads to train its Full Self-Driving system due to data export restrictions. Tesla’s smart driving capabilities were recently tested against other EV models in China, where it performed well. Shanghai, home to Tesla’s factory producing the Model 3 and Model Y, is enhancing its support for the smart driving sector by deploying ride-hailing vehicles for data collection and issuing new robotaxi test licenses.
