The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has begun accepting online applications for the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme 2025. Renewals for last year’s recipients are also open. Interested students can apply on the CBSE’s official website until October 23, 2025.
This scholarship program aims to support the education of single girl children who demonstrate academic excellence, encouraging families to prioritize girls’ education. For the 2025 session, new applications are invited from students who completed Class X in 2025 and are now in Class XI at CBSE-affiliated schools. Additionally, renewal applications are open for those who received the scholarship in 2024 and are currently in Class XII.
Eligibility requires the applicant to be the only child of her parents, an Indian national, and to have scored at least 60% in the Class X CBSE board exams. The student must be enrolled in Class XI or XII at a CBSE-affiliated institution, with a tuition fee not exceeding ₹1,500 per month for Indian residents, and ₹6,000 for NRIs.
Selected students will receive ₹500 monthly for up to two years, with renewal contingent on achieving at least 50% in Class XI. Funds will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries through ECS/NEFT. Applicants are advised to review detailed instructions on the CBSE website before applying, with the deadline set for October 23, 2025.
