The Nova Scotia Energy Board is currently examining an incident report related to a cybersecurity breach at Nova Scotia Power. The report, received last week, was submitted ahead of the December 31 deadline set by the Board. Nova Scotia Power has requested that certain details remain confidential, and the Board is reviewing this request while releasing a redacted public version of the report. The 43-page document details the utility’s response, highlighting effective and timely actions in containment, remediation, and investigation. Nova Scotia Power assures that there is no evidence of customer data misuse or financial harm. The report also notes that 75% of smart meters have been reconnected, with full reconnection expected by the end of March. Additionally, any unnecessary social insurance numbers will be deleted by March 31.
