Is the Galaxy S26’s 16 GB RAM upgrade overdue?

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 is set to feature an upgraded RAM option of 16 GB, a move that has been met with mixed reactions. While a majority of consumers believe it’s about time for this upgrade, others feel it might be too little, too late, drawing comparisons to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Notably, Samsung has a history of offering better product variants in certain markets, often equipping U.S. models with Snapdragon processors while other regions receive Exynos variants. This disparity has led to consumer dissatisfaction in the past. Additionally, the Chinese market has seen exclusive models like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE, which boasted superior features compared to its global counterpart. Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly planning to introduce 12 GB of RAM in its upcoming iPhone 17 models, which could be influencing Samsung’s decision to enhance its RAM offerings. The increased RAM is likely aimed at supporting more resource-intensive AI features, ultimately benefiting consumers if pricing remains competitive.
