Is Your Google Chrome Desktop at Risk?

India’s cybersecurity authority has issued a high-severity warning regarding Google Chrome’s desktop version due to several vulnerabilities. These flaws could allow remote attackers to execute malicious code, bypass security measures, or steal sensitive data through compromised web pages. The vulnerabilities impact Chrome on Windows, macOS, and Linux, especially older versions. The issues include type confusion in the V8 JavaScript engine, use-after-free bugs, and policy bypasses in extensions. Users are advised to update Chrome immediately to prevent potential system control loss, data breaches, or browser crashes. To protect against these threats, ensure your browser is updated through the “About Chrome” menu and avoid visiting untrusted websites. Restarting the browser after updating and enabling automatic updates is also recommended to maintain security.
