L&T, TuTr Hyperloop sign MoU to explore advanced mobility solutions

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed a memorandum of understanding with TuTr Hyperloop, an IIT Madras-incubated mobility technology start-up, on 14 October 2026 to explore the development of advanced transportation systems and supporting infrastructure in India. The MoU provides a framework to identify potential projects; any specific engagement will require separate agreements and does not represent a confirmed construction contract.

L&T and TuTr collaboration scope

The companies said they will assess opportunities in electromagnetic propulsion, vacuum tube infrastructure and pressure management, alongside civil construction, electrical systems, signalling and telecommunications. They will also explore applications in freight and logistics, port connectivity, industrial transportation and other emerging mobility segments.

Proposed roles within individual projects could cover technology development, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, installation and testing, depending on project requirements. The partners will engage with potential customers to assess technical feasibility, commercial viability and implementation needs.

TuTr Hyperloop technology and target applications

TuTr Hyperloop is developing indigenous transportation technologies based on linear induction motor propulsion, with plans to advance towards magnetic levitation and vacuum-based systems. These technologies are being explored for applications ranging from industrial transport to urban mobility.

L&T’s infrastructure and engineering expertise could support the development and deployment of such systems if suitable projects move forward. The companies have not announced specific projects, investment commitments or implementation timelines under the agreement; their immediate focus remains on identifying viable applications and assessing requirements for commercial deployment.
