MagSafe accessories can disrupt the Samsung Galaxy S Pen by creating magnetic fields that interfere with the S Pen’s electromagnetic resonance. That interference can create “dead zones” where the pen cursor jumps across the screen, stops drawing mid-stroke, or the phone fails to detect the pen entirely.
MagSafe cases and rings use Qi2 magnets to let wireless accessories snap into place for chargers, snap-on cardholders, power banks and more. Because the Qi2 magnetic field can affect the S Pen, Samsung does not integrate Qi2 magnets directly into its phones. Samsung devices remain MagSafe compatible, but using a MagSafe case or ring that fits a Galaxy model can make the S Pen nearly useless.
Google supports magnetic Qi2 charging, which Samsung lacks. Samsung retains the S Pen advantage, but that same stylus capability is the reason Samsung avoids building Qi2 magnets into its phones.
Can MagSafe and S Pen work together?
One accessory maker, MagBak, says it has addressed the conflict. MagBak claims its Galaxy Ultra cases use multi-layered magnetic shielding that preserves MagSafe-compatible features while still supporting all S Pen functions. Reddit users have confirmed that the latest MagBak Elite for Galaxy S26 Series works with the S Pen, and professional video reviews have shown no dead zones when using the S Pen with the MagBak S26 Ultra case. By many accounts, it is one of the notable Samsung Galaxy phone accessories that just work.
