NAND market: Samsung still No. 1 as share falls to 25%

A research firm’s analysis of the global NAND market in Q2 2026 found Samsung remained the market leader with a 25% share, down seven percentage points from 32% in Q2 2024.

Samsung was followed by SK Hynix (22%), YMTC (14%), Kioxia (14%), Micron (13%) and SanDisk (11%).

The firm reported enterprise solid-state drives (eSSDs) accounted for 48% of total NAND shipments in Q2 2026, up from 26% in Q2 2025, a rise the analysis attributed to skyrocketing AI demand.

The analysis noted Samsung faced capacity constraints in NAND output because it prioritized higher-margin DRAM; the firm said that without those constraints Samsung may have been further ahead of its rivals.

NAND market dynamics in Q2 2026

The report highlights two key dynamics shaping the Q2 2026 rankings: a substantial shift toward eSSDs driven by AI workloads, and Samsung’s strategic allocation of capacity toward DRAM, which limited its NAND production and affected its market share.
