One UI 9 Watch: Everything you need to know

One UI 9 Watch is Samsung’s implementation of Wear OS 7 for smartwatches. It debuted in July 2026 in the second half of 2026 alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and delivers a slightly refreshed UI, new health and fitness tracking capabilities, and faster access to AI assistants such as Gemini.

The software uses slightly more vibrant colors across the interface, including widgets, and adopts a slightly smaller default font size so most UI labels fit on a single line and reduce scrolling. It introduces a Raise to Talk feature for quicker access to AI assistants like Google’s Gemini. Samsung also merged the Double Pinch and Shake gestures, reserving Double Pinch for positive actions (answering a call or confirming an alert) and Share for negative actions (like declining a call or dismissing an alert). Some stock apps, including Samsung Health, have received minor design upgrades.

Features

Select Galaxy Watches running One UI 9 Watch can display Daily Cardio Load, Hearing Health, Heart Health, and Vitals. The Trail Run exercise mode in Samsung Health adds climb guidance, turn-by-turn route tracking and navigation, and water intake alarms, and users can load routes via GPX files. Cycling features now include the ability to compete against a user’s past records with real-time comparison metrics. The software supports diving and can show real-time dive metrics such as elapsed dive time, current depth, and water temperature through the built-in Depth app on select models like the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. With the Mares app, some compatible watches can display additional diving data including ascent and descent speeds, No-Decompression Limit guidance, real-time nitrogen absorption monitoring, and adjustable gradient factors.

Release and compatibility

One UI 9 Watch debuted with the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in July 2026. Samsung plans to release the update to compatible Galaxy Watches before the end of 2026.
