Samsung foldables overtake Galaxy S in reader interest

Samsung foldables now attract more reader interest than the Galaxy S line, according to a news site’s readership data: attention to both families falls after launch, but the drop-off is steeper for Galaxy S phones, while Galaxy Z devices keep readers engaged for longer.

The publication’s numbers show the Galaxy Z Fold 8 drawing the most interest and, by that account, the most dollars this year. The data measure what readers look at on the site, not actual sales.

Samsung foldables hold attention longer

The audience trend aligns with market figures from Counterpoint, which show Samsung’s foldable lead holding through 2026 even as the broader phone market slides. The outlet credits this year’s hardware updates — notably the lighter Fold 8 and the FlexWindow Flip 8 — for attracting buyers who previously never owned a foldable. By contrast, the S26 remains a predictable seller, and predictable attention fades faster, the data suggest.

What the foldables cost in the UAE

The price gap between the two families is closing in the UAE. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 starts at AED 4,699 for 256GB on Samsung’s UAE store, with the 512GB model at AED 5,099 — AED 400 below the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s launch price of AED 5,099. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at AED 7,199, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at AED 7,999.

Trade-in offers narrow the gap further: up to AED 1,915 off a Flip 8, or AED 3,737 off a Fold 8, with an eligible old phone. With these discounts, the entry foldable is no longer necessarily the more expensive option; the flagship slab can be pricier.

The publisher provides a trade-in explainer covering what an old phone is actually worth, along with a UAE hub for the Fold 8 and a review of the S26 Ultra for readers deciding between models. Some links in the article are affiliate links; the publisher may earn a commission from qualifying purchases.

Are Samsung’s foldables really outselling the Galaxy S line? Not yet — the cited figures reflect readership interest on the site rather than Samsung’s sales ledger. They do show attention to the Z range now outlasting the S line after launch, where purchase decisions often begin.
